Meaningful ECE Code of Ethics
- Respect the diversity in children, families and colleagues. This is very powerful in that we are all different and bring our own way of learning and teaching to each other. If we can't learn from each other what a monotonous society we would be. We all learn, think and are different and should relish in knowing this.
- To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve. Parents need to know that we love and will treat their children as if they are our own. We have to build this camaraderie with them which establishes faith that we have their child's best interest at heart.
- To establish and maintain relationships of respect, trust, confidentiality, collaboration, and cooperation with co-workers. Being that we are all in this together, how can we not share and collaborate with each other. I trust my co-workers in knowing that we all are providing all that we have so our students will achieve high expectations and goals set for them.
- We shall communicate openly and truthfully about the nature and extent of services we provide. As a Special Education teacher, I am upfront and honest with parents on all matters (performance, behavior, established goals, etc.) and inform them that it is my essential responsibility to provide appropriate educational opportunities to all.
- We shall use individually appropriate assessment strategies including multiple sources of information such as observance, interviews with significant caregivers, formal and informal assessments to determine children's learning styles, strengths, and challenges. I use all the tools available to me to measure the areas that a child is struggling and locate resources to assist in helping them to make gains.

Relationships with co-workers are so important! I depend on mine everyday. They are going through everything I am and being able to talk to someone that relates to me is very important.
ReplyDeleteBuilding that relationship with families is so vital to the students success. I feel that if a child knows that their parents and educators are communicating with each other then they will understand how important their education must be. Family involvement in classrooms is an area that I really try to pursue.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of trusting in your co-workers through collaboration! It is important to have good working relationships with your fellow co-workers.
